Tony King


Tony King is a former Producer and Reporter with BBC Radio Five Live and BBC Radio 4 where he was known by his real name, Tony Shearman.

His broadcasting career began in 1989 after he lost his sight. He started in local radio before moving to the BBC in 1991 to work on BBC Radio 4’s “In Touch” programme reporting on visually impaired issues. In 1994 he joined BBC Sport as Radio Five Live was launched where he produced live programmes and documentaries working with some of the top presenters and commentators in the business.

Now as a volunteer with Radio M29, Tony is responsible for the station’s programme schedule & content working closely with Station Manager, Bevan Thompson.

Tony also presents a fortnightly music show on alternate Sunday nights at 6pm called “The 70s, Now That’s What I CALL Music! Which does exactly what it says on the tin!
